A Repurposed Life

Sensational Sunny September

While the sun is rising later and setting earlier these days, in between the rising and setting we have seen some great fall weather. And that makes for an extended painting season.

Tangled along the east property line an old weathered fence had been pulled and pushed by the lilac and honeysuckle hedge until it weaved and tilted every which way. Making use of this great weather I pulled apart the old fence and cut roots and trimmed substantial hunks of the hedge away to make room for a re-aligned fence. Here the posts are set straight and true once again.

While most of the old paint had long since sloughed off the fence boards the remaining scraps of paint would not give way without serious scrapping. Determined to repurpose these boards I scrapped and chipped and sanded the boards for the better part of two days.

The old boards find new life with a touch of paint.

For over a year I have been taking coffee breaks and trying to relax for a few minutes while looking at a debilitated and weather worn fence around our back yard. It is so much nicer now to sit and relax with a fresh clean look about the yard. Of course, the camera has captured a select angle. All the junk boards that were piled here I have now moved to the other side of the yard. Maybe I can work on those next week…
