Building a Base

Preparing for Thanksgiving dinner at our home set me on the task of finishing off the baseboard trim work in the dining room. I had found a sample of original base hidden behind a stairwell remodel of years past. While I was not able to duplicate it exactly, i created a new base using old boards that approximate the height and depth of the original woodwork.

Some of the material I used to create the base were old siding boards that I still had left over. I had stripped off the original lap siding boards to insulate the house.

Another project this week was to create a small cabinet and counter in the nook in the hall between kitchen and dinning rooms. Under the cabinet are pull outs for recycle materials and above the cabinet will be shelves for cook books.

Projects were completed and the clean up done in time to host a fine Thanksgiving Day dinner with good friends around the table.
