Bed & Breakfast

Judy and Harold Thompsen from Fargo were our first overnight guests in the Sweden House B & B. Not everything is completed around the house but enough to have a great visit with good friends.

Judy and Harold brought housewarming gifts that immediately set the hosts in motion! The wild Greek won the first round by circling the front yard three times before the Swede could even get his flag tied to the pole. Notice the Greek didn’t bother with rules or details like having the flag first tied properly to the pole. She just launched immediately into competition mode.

The Sweden House happens to be a working B & B so the Thompsens were sent out into the garden to help Julia.

New trellises were set up and the peas are now happy with something to climb.
Judy and Harold are Julia’s godparents and so they were most happy to assist the master gardener with her projects. They were even more impressed with Steffen and were really glad to have the chance to meet him.
It was a short stay for Judy and Harold as they were heading north to Canada, all the way to Edmonton to send a week with son John and his fiance. Their pick-up was loaded with John’s belongings that has accumulated over the years and they were a little worried about the border crossing. Hopefully all went well and they should be in Edmonton by today.

On Father’s Day I had the fun of spending the whole day with Julia and Steffen playing in their back yard. Steffen got a great load of fresh cut timber and we build a really nice raised planter bed by their deck. After hauling a load of compost and filling the planter with dirt, Julia already has it planted and it looks great.
Oh yes, as if we don’t have enough projects in our own back yards and with gardening our neighbors four garden beds, Julia and I just took on a garden plot full of weeds at the Waukeshaw Community Gardens. We’ll see how that shapes up!
