A Repurposed Life

An 1888 Home Remodel Project

Notes

High in the Sky

Painting progress has moved high up to the peak of the west gable this week. It is exciting to think I am close to finishing up the painting project but it makes me a little nervous when I am reaching up with the paint brush.

I’ve set up two 20’ ladders with ladder jacks to form a scaffold.

Good thing that I remember my boyscout training some 50 years ago as I needed to tie a good bowline knot on the safety rope.

Some 122 years of hot summer sun have taken their toll on the paint and the wood trim. It won’t look pretty but after filling cracks with wood filler and caulk, a new coat of paint makes the trim look great once again.

Thanks to my sister Nancy, we have a new chicken that doesn’t leave a mess in the sun room but warms the walls instead. Nancy’s creative stitches are held up with an antique clothes hanger that originated from Stig Gustafsson’s tailor shop in Stockholm.
